Open Science represents a fundamental shift in the way research and knowledge are created, shared, and used. It embraces the principles of transparency, inclusivity and collaboration to foster innovation and societal impact. The CHARM-EU Alliance is dedicated to promoting Open Science as one of the key pillars of its mission; the award is part of this commitment.

All researchers and faculty at Julius Maximilians-Universität Würzburg (JMU) who have worked with Open Science are invited to apply for the CHARM-EU Open Science Recognition Award. Applications are invited from all academic disciplines.

Submission Requirements

To apply for the CHARM-EU Open Science Recognition Award, interested individuals must submit a short, one-page description of their Open Science activities. The description should outline the initiatives, projects, or research efforts undertaken to promote and advance the principles of Open Science.

Applicants are encouraged to highlight their contributions in areas such as open access publishing, data sharing, open educational resources, citizen science, open source software, or other relevant areas. They are further asked to provide links, if available, in evidence of their online Open Science activity.

About the Judging Process

Each submission will be evaluated by a jury composed of Open Science experts from all institutions of the CHARM-EU Alliance. The jury will evaluate submissions based on their compliance with the Open Science principles and the impact of the activities described.

For more information on the eight pillars of Open Science, see the EU Open Science Factsheet, December 2, 2019.

A Trip for the Winner

As a winner of this year's CHARM-EU Open Science Recognition Award, you will have the opportunity to travel to one of the CHARM-EU sites and consult with local experts on strategies and practices to promote Open Science. This visit will provide insights and foster collaboration and knowledge sharing between the awardee and the local Open Science community.

The results will be announced on October 13.
