The presentation & workshop "Avoiding and Clarifying Linguistic Misunderstandings in Conflict Situations in International Contexts" will take place from 20th to 21st November.
In international contexts, English is almost automatically used as a common language - after all, it is a language "everyone understands". But is it really?
The conflict potential of linguistic misunderstandings is often underestimated. Using the Solution Focus approach, in this workshop relevant questions within academic contexts will be addressed, not only for international collaborators coming to work in a foreign country, but also for native speakers working with international collaborators.
The presentation will serve as an entryway into the topic of the workshop in the afternoon, which will deepen our understanding of the impact of linguistic misunderstandings and offer us strategies to alleviate their conflict potential.
