Office of the President

The Office of the President is responsible for a wide range of functions:

  • Assists the President, and at the request of the President, with projects in the field of strategic and organisational development (proposals for funding under the Excellence Strategy, university objectives agreement, other projects related to strategic and organisational development)
  • Serves as Academic Committees Office for around 100 committee meetings and six retreats each year (prepares and organises meetings and retreats of the following committees and performs follow-up work: University Board, Extended University Board, Senate, Concilium Decanale, University Council, Board of Trustees) as well as for awards and recognitions given by the University
  • Serves as Academic Committees Office for the University’s participation in external networks (German Rectors’ Conference (HRK), German U15, UniBay, CHARM-EU, Coimbra Group, German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), Falling Walls, Environmental Research Station Schneefernerhaus, collaboration with the city of Würzburg)
  • Manages protocol matters (e.g. official seal, attire for academic ceremonies)
  • Serves as coordinator for the University’s Welcome Center and Dual Career Service
  • Serves as coordinator for the Siebold-Collegium Institute for Advanced Studies (SCIAS)
  • Serves as contact point for the Centre for Continuing Education (CCE)
  • Provides communications services to the President and the members of the University Board (e.g. speechwriting, event management for the ‘Stiftungsfest’ celebrations, events from the ‘Kinderuniversität’ and ‘Schüleruniversität’ programmes, SCIAS events, welcome receptions for new professors, ceremonial openings of buildings, the Campus Festival, plaques in honour of eminent scholars in public places) and assists with the University’s internal and external communications activities
  • Serves as Front Office of the President
  • Serves as Office of the Vice-Presidents
  • Provides driving services to the President and the members of the University Board
