Prof. Rao, could you shortly introduce yourself?
I am an Emeritus Scientist, working at the CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad, India. I am also an Honorary Professor of the Academy of Scientific & Innovative Research at the CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology.

Could you describe your current research project that might be useful for the treatment of COVID-19?
We have identified lead molecules having (i) cardiovascular; (ii) cerebrovascular and (iii) maybe COVID-19 therapeutic values. We have synthesized heterocycles and evaluated them as PDE3 inhibitors, IC50 numbers determined, three inventions covering ~19 patents filed and granted. Pharmco-kinetics and pharmaco-dynamics data was generated to some extent. Animal studies indicated the therapeutic importance of these lead molecules.
