B/D: Presentation Practice in Academia (Online, BLS)

Date: 07/18/2025, 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Category: B2, D2
Location: Online

IN THIS WORKSHOP YOU WILL

  • practise key presentation phrases by means of developing and delivering a presentation,
  • make use of academic vocabulary in the presentation,
  • integrate didactic principles in your presentation that guide and activate your audience (aim- and phase-orientation, motivational design, didactic reducation), and
  • practise giving and receiving feedback.

In this Blended Learning Online-Course you will practise designing and delivering a presentation on a chosen topic using key presentation phrases, academic vocabulary, and didactic principles that guide and activate your audience. With phrases and vocabulary provided by the trainer 2 weeks ahead of the workshop, you will already have speaking-practice designing and recording a 10-minute presentation before we meet in the workshop. After that, you will receive more input by the trainer on how to integrate didactic elements in your presentation to trigger and keep your audience’s attention, besides talking through principles of constructive feedback, in the workshop. After blending in the input in your presentation, you will deliver the presentation again to a peer in a break out room and receive constructive feedback. Conclusively, we will talk through key challenges and questions in the group, so that you are coached on how to revise your presentations effectively.

After the workshop, you will have the opportunity to revise your presentation, record it again, and receive constructive feedback by a peer and the trainer in an asynchronous way.
