Sexual Harassment Helpdesk
The helpdesk offers (anonymous) counseling in cases of sexual harassment for all JMU students and employees, regardless of their gender, gender identity or sexual orientation.
Via the helpdesk, you can submit a request for advice online and, if you wish, without providing personal data and take advantage of personal advice. This can be done anonymously via the platform's chat function - but you can also opt for a face-to-face meeting at any time during the process.
The counselors at the helpdesk are bound to secrecy and will treat your request confidentially. The advisors and contact persons are independent in the performance of their duties, i.e. they work in an open-ended manner and are not subject to any instructions in this regard.
In an initial and referral consultation...
- we help you to assess what you have experienced and find an individual way of dealing with it.
- we will show you options for action, talk about possible forms of support and, if necessary, put you in touch with suitable advice centers.
- we will inform you about the possibility of making a report and the steps involved. If you decide to make an official report and would like support, we will guide you through the process.
Each person decides for themselves what they find unpleasant. We would like to expressly encourage you to contact the contact point if you are unsure. If you have had unpleasant experiences because you have assisted victims of sexual harassment, you can also contact us.
Even if you are not sure yourself whether your behavior towards another person was transgressive, we are available to advise you anonymously.
