Zum Inhalt der Veranstaltung:
"Myths and stereotypes about the "Oriental other" can affect our understanding of law and legality in China.
This course will survey law and legal institutions in China as they have evolved since 1949, it will assess the progress made by the PRC legal system, and outline the challenges that remain unmet. The focus will be on selected substantive and procedural areas of contemporary Chinese law.
This illustration will pave the ground to address certain views of the PRC legal system. The following points will be discussed: the so-called lack of law and legality in China, the role law plays in business and political interaction, the preference of extra-legal means to resolve disputes, rights protection mechanisms and their workings."
