Coimbra Group Student Exchange Network
The Coimbra Group is an association of renowned universities with a long academic tradition in Europe. As part of the Student Exchange Network (SEN), students can study abroad at some of the member universities.
Exchange Opportunities
Spend a semester abroad at one of our selected member university of the Coimbra Group and benefit from the same Erasmus+ advantages as if you were going abroad through your subject. Applications are open to (almost) all subjects. You can find all the information you need on how to apply and on grants and scholarship benefits here on our website.

Please note the following remarks
- Please research independently in advance whether your subject is offered at the above-mentioned university and whether you have the necessary language skills to take part in courses in the language(s) of instruction.
- If you already have an Erasmus agreement with the above-mentioned universities for your subject, it is unfortunately not possible to apply via the Coimbra Group Student Exchange Programme.
- Language skills in the language of instruction must always be demonstrated when applying, but additional knowledge of the national language will significantly improve your application.
- Not every subject can be studied at the universities listed.

Grants and Scholarships
- Tuition waiver
- Erasmus mobility grant in the amount of 540.00€ - 600.00€/month (depending on Erasmus country group assignment)
- Additional monthly financial top-up of 250.00€/month for first-time academics and employed students and for students with chronic illness and/or disability (from a GdB of 20)
- Funding of additional travel days: up to 2 days for travel by non-sustainable means of transport (car, motorbike, plane, boat), up to 6 days for travel by sustainable means of transport and prior request ('Green Travel', bus, train, bicycle, carpooling with at least 2 Erasmus students of JMU)
- Erasmus Online Linguistic Support (online language course)
- * Switzerland: No Erasmus grant; financial support is provided via the SEMP-Programme
- **UK and Brexit: Stays in Durham may be supported by scholarships from the Bavarian Ministry of Science and the Arts. However, this cannot be guaranteed. Please contact the International Office in advance. Note that exchanges are only possible as a full academic year (no semester stays).
