Studying in Würzburg
a) How can I get information about the status of my application?
You can see changes in the status of your application in your WueStudy account, in case you applied via WueStudy. Have you handed in your application otherwise please contact your subject or your departmental coordinator directly. The International Office - Incoming will not answer any requests about the status of your application. Thank you for your understanding.
b) Have you received my application document via post?
Please send your application together with a proof of shipping or shipping number so you can track your shipping number. The International Office will not send out any confirmation of receipt.
c) My application status changed to "online received", what does that mean?
Status "onine received" means that your application is in the system and in the pool of applicants.
d) My application status changed to "valid", what does that mean?
Status "valid" means that your application documents are valid and will participate in the selection process.

Studienkolleg
An application directly at the Studienkolleg is not possible. Please apply for the subject of your choice at the University of Wuerzburg. We will issue an admission for the Studienkolleg if necessary.
"Do I need to send my documents by post to the International Office Würzburg?"
For Master degree applications, please find a list of application modalities on the following page of the International Office.
Undergraduate Programmes (Bachelor, State Examination (as well human medicine / dentistry / pharmacy), Module Courses Bachelor):
For subjects without admission restrictions, a file upload via the application portal is sufficient. For subjects with admission restrictions, the application documents must either be handed in personally at the International Office Incoming or sent by post to this address:

Please send us an empty envelope with stamp and your home adress and we will be happy to send your documents back to you via post.
"How to convert a local credit system to the ECTS credit system?"
Regarding questions about how to convert local/national credit systems into the official ECTS system, please contact your subject department directly (for master degrees).
International applicants need a preliminary review documentation (VPD) from uni-assist to apply at the University of Würzburg. Please check whether you need a preliminary review documentation (VPD). You must apply for it at uni-assist before you apply to the University of Würzburg. The application via uni-assist does not replace the application for your study programme at the university of Wuerzburg. You need to place an application via WueStudy as well, otherwise your application can not be taken into account.
"I received a notice of rejection and I would like to know more details about my rejection."
Your application could not be considered for selection due to one or more of the following errors:
1) Incomplete application documents (i.e., individual documents or certified copies missing) or 2) Application was not submitted within the required application deadlines.
The International Office can not give any further details about the rejection. In case of a master application, please contact your department directly for further details about the rejection.
"Could you please tell me if I am eligible for a study programme at your university?"
Thank you for your understanding, that we can not check your documents prior to your application. Please hand in your application within the application deadlines and we are happy to check your documents regarding a possible admission.
"When will I receive notice about my admission?"
The selection process will take some time and is dependent on the number of applications of each semester. Thank you for your understanding that the International Office does not answer these requests. You will receive an admission letter in case your application can find admission to the selected study programme.
"I would like to apply for a masters degree at the JMU Würzburg. Please give me some details regarding admission criteria for a masters study programme!"

"I would like to study medicine at the JMU. What are the admission criteria?"

"How can I set up a WueStudy account?"

German Courses for:

The Language Centre of the University of Wuerzburg offers German Courses for free for alle levels.
Intensive German Course: in March and September (for programme exchange students only)
- Degree Students
For all students (degree students as well) the Language Centre offers German Courses algonside the studies.
"How can I apply for a scholarship? Does the university support students financially?"
The University of Wuerzburg does not award any scholarships directly. It is best to find out about funding opportunities in your home country. The chances of receiving a scholarship in Germany are very slim.
On the page of the International Office you can find several links to scholarship offers of different institutions.
There is also the possibility of the Deutschlandstipendium Scholarship. This programme is open to students of all nationalities who are enrolled in a programme at a higher education institution in Germany and have demonstrated a potential for outstanding academic achievement.
"How can I apply for a higher semester?"
This site provides information and application forms for international applicants without a German citizenship and without the German "Abitur".
For subjects with admission restrictions (several subjects at JMU are restricted, e.g. more students applying than we can admit. You can only apply for one restricted subject.) you apply for a higher semester:

For subjects without admission restrictions you apply for the first semester. After enrolment you apply for recognition of your study achievements at the examination office.

"How can I apply for a change of study subject?"
Changing your degree programme or subject is possible. Please find the different option summarizes on this page.
Bachelor:
For a change of subject in study programmes without admission restrictions: Please find the form of petition on this page under "Where can I find the application form?".
For a change of subject in study programmes with admission restrictions: Please apply for the subject you wish to change to.
Master degrees:
Do you aim for a change of your subject in a masters degree, you need to apply for the subject you want to study. After your admission you can apply for a permission to continue your studies in the master programme.
"How can I enrole for a PhD programme?"

"I missed the re-enrolment deadline and was exmatriculated. What shall I do now?"
Did you not pay your semester fee within the deadline for re-enrolment, please pay immediately and write an e-mail to the student affairs office (studierendenkanzlei@uni-wuerzburg.de) about your late payment.

Exchange students with partnership programs we guarantee a room at a student dormitory after application for a room until 15th January/15th June.
