Advantage for exchange programme students: Apply for a room in a dormitory of the Studierendenwerk by the official application deadline (15 June for the winter semester and 15 January for the summer semester) and your accommodation is guaranteed!

Freemovers can also apply for a room in a dormitory of The Studierendenwerk, but no room can be guaranteed.

The Student Housing Service  is responsible for several dormitories in various locations in Würzburg.

Amenities:

  • Single and double rooms or rooms in apartments where two to four students share a kitchen and bathroom;
  • All rooms and apartments are furnished;
  • Dishes, cooking items, bedding, and towels are not provided;
  • You can find more information about the individual dormitories on Studierendenwerk's website.

Length of stay:

  • Student accommodations are granted for 6 months (for one semester stay) or 12 months (for one year stay). A shorter rental period is not possible
  • Participants who participate in the intensive language course before the semester begins can get a dorm room one month earlier, so that the length of the contract increases to 7 or 13 months

Application:

  • Deadlines: June 15 for the Winter Semester and January 15 for the Summer Semester (Student Housing Service must receive the security deposit by this date);
  • After your application as an exchange student, you'll will get from us a guide on "How to apply for a room in a dormitory?".
  • Please apply for a room in a dormitory as soon as you have the guide.
  • As an exchange student, you do NOT need your letter of acceptance for the dormitory application!
  • Programme students who apply online by this date are guaranteed to get a dorm room.
  • Please contact the Student Housing Service for any questions regarding your application for a dormitory.

Withdrawal from contract:

  • Reimbursement of the deposit is only possible within a certain time frame. Please see the Housing Office's website for further information.

 

To increase your chances of getting a room offer, we recommend choosing "single room in any shared apartment" as wished type of housing and for wished student residences "all with single rooms in any shared apartment in Würzburg"

 

Of course you can also live in a shared apartment (WG – Wohngemeinschaft) or in your own apartment. Rooms and apartments for temporary rent (Zwischenmiete) are often furnished and can be of particular interest to you.
