Scholarships for foreign students
Information on Scholarship Opportunities for international students
We recommend that you begin exploring scholarship opportunities in your home country. Useful contacts may include your country’s Ministry of Education, local scholarship organizations, or the German Federal Foreign Office, which provides information on current funding options.
German institutions, such as the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), also offer scholarships for international students, particularly for study stays or doctoral programs in Germany. Please note, however, that funding for an entire degree program from the first to the last semester is generally not available.
In some countries, the DAAD maintains regional offices where you can receive guidance and support in person. You can obtain the addresses of these offices from the German embassy in your home country.
If completing a full degree program at the University of Würzburg is not feasible for financial or other reasons, you might consider a shorter stay, such as a one-year exchange. Such stays can sometimes be funded by the DAAD under specific conditions.
If you are already enrolled at a university in your home country, we also recommend checking whether your university has a partnership or exchange agreement with the University of Würzburg. These agreements may offer additional opportunities for support.
Please be aware that the chances of receiving a scholarship in Germany for a bachelor’s degree are generally very low, and they are also limited for master’s programs. Nonetheless, there are various pathways to secure funding – early research and careful planning are key.
BAYHOST oversees the scholarship and grant program of the Free State of Bavaria and its partner countries in Central and Eastern Europe and provides mobility grants for the exchange of students and young researchers as well as for the initiation of cooperation in the field of research and education.
