Helping the People of Ukraine
The JMU expresses its solidarity with Ukraine
We at Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg (JMU) stand in solidarity with Ukraine and offer our help to everyone affected by the crisis: refugee students, researchers, teachers and staff members of our partners in Ukraine as well as Ukrainian students and researchers at the JMU. We all hope for a quick and peaceful resolution to the conflict.
We have set up a forum on the WueCampus platform where all members of the JMU can post what they need, be it accommodation, donations or any other form of help.
The JMU helps researchers who have fled from Ukraine by submitting joint applications for funding from the German Research Foundation (DFG), the Volkswagen Foundation, the Philipp Schwartz Initiative and other funding bodies. Please be aware that to receive funding from these organisations, refugee researchers usually need a suitable institute or colleagues at the JMU to host them. If you are looking for a host, you can either check the web pages of our faculties or you can email us at ukrainehilfe@uni-wuerzburg.de to ask for assistance.
Support from the German Research Foundation (DFG) (WueCampus room)
Financial assistance for Ukrainian researchers from the Volkswagen Foundation (WueCampus room)
> Special deadline for nominations for Philipp Schwartz Fellowships for Ukrainian researchers (expired on 18 March, additional measures are being prepared)
You are welcome to apply for admission to one of our regular degree programmes. More information can be found on the web pages of the JMU International Office.
- The team at the International Office is available to provide assistance to all international students, and particularly to those from Ukraine, who need help with the current situation.
- Information on where to find psychological support is provided on the web pages of the JMU Student Representation (section ‘Psychologische Beratung’).
- Researchers who have fled from Ukraine can also contact the JMU Welcome Centre for assistance.
Help can be obtained from the JMU Women’s Representative and her team. They are available to help women and families who have fled from Ukraine and need assistance with finding childcare and with any other issues.
Do not hesitate to get in touch! You can email them in Ukrainian, Russian or German at familienservice@uni-wuerzburg.de.
