A: Didactic Concepts and Best Practice in Academic Higher Education (Online)

IN THIS COURSE, YOU WILL

  • explain key didactic principles to a colleague (Constructive Alignment, phase-orientation, motivational design and didactic reduction) to trigger effective teaching & learning,
  • define and write down learning outcomes and suitable forms of assessment, evaluation, feedback and activation in a structured lesson plan,
  • select specific activation methods to promote students’ learning process,
  • review and choose methods for giving and receiving constructive feedback and
  • define learning demands and outline these to communicate the requirements as well as your support for the students in your courses.

In these interactive half-day workshops you work on effectively planning, carrying out, assessing and evaluating academic courses according to the key didactic concept Constructive Alignment: You practise writing learning outcomes, and choose coherent forms and methods of assessment, evaluation, feedback and activation. In order to do so, we will focus on didactic principles that guide us viewing best practice examples. To promote students’ performance, we will also address requirements for your specific courses and discuss principles and methods for giving and receiving constructive (peer-)feedback.

Workshop structure:

  • Day 1: Planning and structuring your courses via Constructive Alignment; assessing and evaluating student performance (concepts and methods)
  • Day 2: Activating your students (principles and methods); promoting constructive feedback
