Würzburg

Würzburg has a long history of more than 1300 years, being first mentioned in documents dating back to 704. Today, the city on the Main river has a population of around 125,000, making Würzburg the sixth largest city in Bavaria. Students are a major part of the population: During the winter semester 2015/16 around 34,000 have enrolled at one of the three universities.

Würzburg is the seat of the administrative district of Lower Franconia and the bishop's seat of the Würzburg diocese. Tourists love the city because of its countless attractions: According to statistics, the city has some 850,000 overnight visitors plus 128,000 visitors that arrive on board one of the cruise ships and many more day trippers.More information
