Being an integrated research and treatment centre, the Deutsche Zentrum für Herzinsuffizienz, DZHI (Comprehensive Heart Failure Centre) studies complex diseases mechanisms and develops new methods to treat and prevent cardiac insufficiency in an interdisciplinary approach. Key topics are nano CT, phase contrast X-raying, time-resolved X-ray microscopy and X-ray scattering methods (SAXS). The emphasis is on non-destructive computer tomography with highest resolution of detail in the micrometre and nanometre range. The absorption of X-radiation is used for non-destructive examination of materials and to explore the internal three-dimensional structure of objects with newly developed systems.
