DigiPäd

DigiPäd - 00.204, building 64

In the "Digital Media from a Pedagogical Perspective" network, the professorships involved in teacher training at the Institute of Education pool their academic expertise to develop new perspectives on matters of digital teaching and learning from a pedagogical point of view. Given the interconnection of theory and practice, the room concept is designed in a way that an innovative digital teaching and learning format in teacher training can be realised, meaning that students can experience digital teaching and learning firsthand. At the same time, in the interest of high-quality teacher training, it is important to reflect on these experiences and analyse them in a research-based academic examination as well. Digital media thus become the means and content of teacher training that model central aspects of a world influenced by digitalisation and education from a pedagogical and didactic perspective and evaluate them from a theoretical point of view. In addition to providing the necessary technical equipment, the DigiPäd is intended to enable communicative forms of cooperative teaching and learning so that research-based and action-oriented learning can take place.

The DigiPäd offers 31 seats. The chairs are equipped with rollers, there is a storage space for bags, and there is a small writing desk so that the workstation can be flexibly moved around in the room. The seating arrangement can be rearranged at any time and the room can be divided into individual teaching and learning areas as required.

The main projection surface is located at the front of the room: the 86" height-adjustable Smartboard. There are four additional 65" displays on the two side walls, each equipped with an Apple TV. There are also 15 iPads with an Apple Pencil available for mobile work, which, together with the Apple TVs, allow work results to be presented wirelessly on all displays. The iPads can all be charged at the same time in a mobile iPad cabinet. A power strip is also installed along the walls throughout the room, offering flexible charging options.

Room booking and terms of use

In order to use the DigiLLabs@JMU, you will need electronic access authorisation. Please contact the DigiLLabs@JMU team (digillab@uni-wuerzburg.de) and specify the room you wish to use and include the last four digits of your JMU card or token. If you do not have a JMU card, you may also use a guest card to gain access.

The rooms in building 25 are automatically locked as soon as the door is locked. In building 64, hold your JMU card up to the lock; this will unlock the door. Make sure you lock the doors again when you leave. Do not forget to take your JMU/guest card with you once you leave the room.

Access to the rooms also gives you access to the cabinets in the rooms where the equipment is located. Make sure you lock them after use. An open door is marked green on the lock, while a closed door is marked red.
