Open Access Policy of Julius-Maximilians-Universität (JMU) Würzburg
Open Access refers to free access to scholarly scientific publications; in other words, through Open Access, texts are freely and publicly accessible on the Internet. On April 18, 2011, the Extended University Board approved the Open Access Policy of the University of Würzburg as follows:
The University of Würzburg supports the Open Access concept and advocates that publicly funded research conducted for the benefit of science and society should be accessible worldwide without restrictions. To affirm its support of Open Access, the university signed the Berlin Declarationand adopted the following principles:
- 1. The university invites its authors to post *their published scientific papers as a parallel publication (postprint version) in the university's institutional repository. The goal is to provide freely accessible, compiled documentation of the research activities at JMU.
- 2. The university recommends that all scientists submit their **contributions to Open Access journals with appropriate quality assurance measures and publish monographs and collected works with Open Access publishers or on Open Access platforms.
