Proteins are complex and vital macromolecules, basically involved in all functions of the cell. Research on proteins and protein complexes, as well as the analysis of their functions and possibly also malfunctions, is therefore often of central scientific interest. Our Recombinant Protein Expression Facility provides support in the production of specific target proteins, especially if they cannot be easily produced in E.coli.
The services provided by the Recombinant Protein Expression Facility include sequencing of the DNA templates, cloning into appropriate expression vectors, expression in the desired expression system(s), analysis of the expression and optionally the purification of the protein / protein complex.
The following expression systems and methods are available to the research groups of the University of Würzburg and (upon request) external groups. Upon agreement, other methods or cell-based assays are also possible to be performed by our facility.
