Accommodation
The Siebold-Collegium and its fellows are housed in a newly restored historic building, the so-called Welz-Haus, which was built in the 18th century. The Welz-Haus is situated in a very quiet yet central area of Würzburg (Klinikstraße 6). Its location is ideal to explore the city as many points of interest are within walking distance (e.g. Old Main Bridge, City Hall, historical University buildings including the laboratory of W. C. Röntgen where X-Rays were discovered).
At the Welz-Haus, 20 fully furnished apartments, with a bathroom/shower and a kitchenette, of various sizes are available for guests and their families. It is also possible to join two apartments, e.g. for families. Additionally, the Welz-Haus has two accessible, large-sized apartments on the ground floor with disability-friendly bathrooms.
Surcharge at double occupancy, for short- or long-term stays, is 270 €. Additional cost for long-term stays includes the monthly intermediate cleaning (change of bed linen) of 30 € to 35 € per month. A mandatory fee of 80 € covers the final cleaning at the end of the visit.
The monthly rent includes internet access (Eduroam WLAN), use of shared facilities, electricity and heating costs. All prices VAT included.
You can get more information about the Welz-Haus and further contact information at the web page of the Universität Würzburg Gmbh.
SCIAS subsidies
For approved SCIAS guests and fellows, the cost of accommodation can be partially covered. If you are interested in obtaining subsidies, please check the appropriate box on the registration form.
Please note that some funding programmes (e.g. Humboldt-Foundation) may exclude you from our subsidies as they provide their own means of accommodation support. If in doubt, please check with your funding programme before applying for a SCIAS grant.
