Important Information: Who Needs a Preliminary Review Documentation From Uni-Assist and How Do You Get One?

Please find out first whether you will need to submit a preliminary review documentation (Vorprüfungsdokumentation, VPD) to the University of Würzburg along with your application for admission. Unfortunately, we cannot accept VPDs that you have requested for other universities or uni-assist test reports.

Who needs a VPD?

This also applies to applicants for admission to higher subject semesters.
  • Applicants for admission to a Master’s programme who completed their previous degree (e.g. Bachelor’s degree) in a country other than Germany please check here whether you need a VPD to apply for the respective degree program.
  • Applicants holding an International Baccalaureate Diploma who do not have a letter of recognition of foreign qualifications (Anerkennungsbescheid) from the office for the recognition of non-Bavarian certificates and diplomas (Zeugnisanerkennungsstelle).

  • Applicants holding an International Baccalaureate Diploma who have already received a letter of recognition of foreign qualifications (Anerkennungsbescheid) from the office for the recognition of non-Bavarian certificates and diplomas (Zeugnisanerkennungsstelle).
  • Applicants who completed their Bachelor’s degree in Germany.
  • Applicants who have already received a letter of recognition of foreign qualifications (Anerkennungsbescheid) from the office for the recognition of foreign certificates and diplomas (Zeugnisanerkennungsstelle).

How do I request a VPD?

You will have to request your VPD online through the https://my.uni-assist.de/ website.

Go to the website and complete the following steps in the following order:

  • FIRST select ‘Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg’ in the ‘University’ section.
  • After that, select the degree you want to pursue (e.g. ‘Alle Fächer Bachelor’ (Bachelor’s, all subjects), ‘Alle Fächer Master’ (Master’s, all subjects) etc.) or, as a special case, the lottery procedure for all admission-restricted subjects Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy.
  • Next, select the semester of your choice.

Remember: You cannot select a specific degree programme on the uni-assist website but will only have to select the degree you want to pursue in your chosen subject. Usually it is sufficient if you apply just for one VPD for the JMU. With this you can also apply for a Bachelor's degree and later for the lottery procedure for the state examination courses.

Be aware that requesting a VPD from uni-assist and applying for admission to the University of Würzburg are two separate processes. You will first have to request a VPD and will then have to submit an application for admission to the University of Würzburg through the WueStudy portal (or, for certain Master’s programmes, through the Faculty offering the programme)!

Please allow up to 6-8 weeks for uni-assist to process your request. You can request a VPD from uni-assist at any time during the year. The application deadline at JMU for the winter semester is July 15th and for the summer semester January 15th. You have to submit the VPD until July 27th/January 27th.

Please also read the information on the provision of proof of your proficiency in the German language.
