In the winter semester of 1948/49 Hans Franke, who used to teach as an associate professor at the University of Innsbruck, came to Würzburg as the first assistant medical director to the medical clinic. Shortly after, he worked as a professor for internal medicine at the Julius-Maximilians-University. During his research career he engaged himself especially on questions about longevity. With his research study on centenarians he achieved a lot of attention amongst medical experts that far exceeded Germany’s borders and therefor made him the the precursor of geriatrics.
He dwelled in “Mittleren Dallenebergweg 6a”.
