Prof. Dr. Andreas Dörpinghaus
Portfolio: learning, teaching and quality management
Andreas Dörpinghaus, holder of the Chair of Philosophy of Education at JMU, will be responsible for the portfolio of ‘learning, teaching and quality management’.
His work as Vice-President will focus on areas including teacher training, digital teaching and learning, degree programme development, the University’s teaching interests, sustainable teaching and learning, organisational development and the streamlining of teaching and assessment structures.
Curriculum vitae
Prof. Dörpinghaus studied German language and literature, philosophy, education and history at the Universities of Duisburg, Düsseldorf and Essen. He earned his doctorate with a thesis on Arthur Schopenhauer in 1997 and his Habilitation with a thesis on the logic of rhetoric in 2000.
Prof. Dörpinghaus held a postdoctoral fellowship by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and held positions at the Universities of Duisburg, Essen and Cologne before he came to Würzburg. At JMU, he has held the Chair of Philosophy of Education since 2007 and served as Dean of the Faculty of Human Sciences for six years.
His research interests are in fields including the philosophy of education, historical educational research, the philosophy and history of science, the philosophy of perception as well as aesthetic education.
