Dr. Uwe Klug

The Chancellor serves as head of the University’s administration and as Budget Officer and is the superior of the University’s non-academic staff.

Biography

Dr. Klug was born in Obernburg am Main in the Miltenberg district in 1959. From 1980 to 1985, he studied law at the University of Würzburg where he also completed his doctorate (thesis on a topic in criminal law).
In 1993, he took up a position in the University’s Legal Department and became head of that department a year later.
Before he was appointed Deputy Chancellor of the University of Würzburg in 2008, Dr. Klug served on a range of committees including the Senate and the Budget Committee.

Dr. Klug was Acting Chancellor of the University from October 2011 to March 2012 and was appointed Chancellor in late March 2012.
