5. How to ensure your card will function reliably
5.1 How do I protect my card?
You will have to treat your chip card with the same care as your credit or debit card.
Potential problems with your card:
Chip or antenna breakage
- Do not bend your card.
- Do not punch holes through your card or damage it in any other way.
Damage to the print or surface
- Do not expose your card to strong mechanical stress.
- Do not expose your card to high temperatures (e.g. in your car or oven).
- Do not expose your card to chemical substances (e.g. in your washing machine or dishwasher).
- Do not let your card get dirty, do not scratch it and do not affix stickers or other items to it.
Exposure to radiation
- Do not place your card near strong magnetic fields.
- Do not expose your card to strong sunlight.
If it is obvious that you did not follow these instructions, we will charge you €20 for a replacement card.
Important information:
We would advise you to keep your card in the sleeve it came with. You will not have to take your card out of its sleeve when you present it on public transport or place it on the reader at a checkout counter.
