Embedding ESD in the degree programmes

Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg (JMU) strives to integrate sustainability issues and education for sustainable development (ESD) as a cross-sectional task in studies and teaching. This commitment is reflected in various structural measures:

JMU has developed an overall institutional Sustainability strategy (NHS) entwickelt, which was adopted by the university management on 6 August 2024. One area of action in this strategy is the anchoring of sustainability and ESD as a cross-cutting topic in all degree programmes.

In this way, JMU aims to equip students in all subjects with the knowledge, skills and competences necessary for sustainable development by integrating sustainability into the curricula and promoting a diverse and inclusive education.
