Learning4Future

The vision of the transformation experiment Learning4Future is to explore and explore the paths that allow all students of JMU and the partner universities within the European university alliance CHARM-EU (https://www.charm-eu.eu/) to acquire knowledge and competences in higher education for sustainable development. With a digitally offered self-study course (Massive Open Online Course, MOOC) Interdisciplinary Sustainability Sciences, JMU can support its students in developing an awareness of sustainability and in acquiring technical and methodological competences relating to sustainability topics.

Furthermore, this initiative can promote the innovative development of teaching, internationalisation and the visibility of JMU in the field of sustainability. The content of the MOOC should be decidedly science-based and comprehensible across disciplines and offered in German and English.

The working basis of the transformation experiment is the cooperation of various actors at JMU who have experience in the scientific, methodological and technical aspects of higher education for sustainable development and digital self-learning programmes.

By continuously evaluating the processes involved in realisation, implementation and operation, and in particular the experiences and learning successes of users, data and findings are generated that are to be evaluated and published in cooperation with educational science, pedagogical and didactic institutions at JMU and beyond. The cross-status group team of the transformation experiment consists of representatives from CHARM-EU, ‘Global Systems and Intercultural Competence GSiK’, the university didactics ‘ProfiLehre’ of the ZBL, the ‘Sustainability Laboratory WueLAB’, the student representation, the transformation experiment Teaching4Sustainabilityin the WueLAB and ‘WueDive - Digital Innovations in Teaching’ at the ZBL. In addition, the expectations and ideas of lecturers from a wide range of subjects and the PSE will be collected.

Project duration: until the end of 2027
