Joint project at WueLAB

In view of the far-reaching and urgent challenges of climate change, universities, as public institutions and actors in knowledge production and dissemination, bear a special responsibility for actively shaping sustainability processes.

The research network "Regional paths to climate-neutral universities"(DE:„Regionale Wege zu klimaneutralen Hochschulen) is also dedicated to this. The aim of the joint research is to take stock of current carbon dioxide emissions and their future avoidance, reduction and compensation in the university environment. To this end, the research project combines numerous fields of investigation from the technical and natural sciences as well as the humanities and social sciences.

The following universities are involved in the joint project:

During the project period from 01.10.2022 to 30.09.2025, the feasibility and implementation of a sustainable transformation of the company's own facilities through permanently effective, structural changes will be researched, developed and evaluated.

REKLINEU is affiliated with the  Sustainability laboratory WueLAB at the University of Würzburg and thus benefits from its structures. In order to comprehensively establish the desired culture of sustainability, the goals of the project are not limited to academics in research and teaching. Students, administration and academic support staff are also actively and permanently involved in the project.

REKLINEU aims to demonstrate the feasibility of decarbonization pathways and to serve as a model and catalyst for comparable initiatives and structures. Numerous collaborations with external partners from business, politics and society will facilitate the development of models of integrative regional sustainability concepts that are also effective beyond universities.

REKLINEU aims to become a "best practice example" for politics, institutions and society for the continuation and implementation of sustainable behavioral measures.
