Clare Maudling

Clare is a Post-doctoral Research Fellow with the University of Exeter.
She is an interdisciplinary researcher, working across the fields of social and economic history, politics and urban development. Clare completed her PhD on post-war reconstruction of blitzed cities in 2019 with the University of Exeter, and she previously contributed to the ESRC funded ‘Structure of Government’ project, which began her shift in focus towards political research. Her specialist interests are post-war reconstruction in the UK and statelessness in South East Asia. Within the project, Clare is working on historical aspects of perceptions of taxation and fiscal citizenship, and administrative burden in taxation.
