The role of Sphingolipids in Innate Immune Recognition of Candida albicans

The research of Oliver Kurzai examines the intereaction between dendritic cells and the major human fungal pathogen Candida albicans. Within this project we will characterize the sphingolipids for uptake and processing of fungal cells as well as for the maturation of dendritic cells during the presence of C. albicans and the fungal quorum sensing molecule Farnesol.
