Environment

The RTG is well embedded in the highly active neuroscience community in Würzburg. It is affiliated with the interdisciplinary Graduate School of Life Sciences, GSLS, to ensure high graduation standards. The RTG can further rely on a broad, state-of-the-art technological and methodological infrastructure for experiments in animal models as well as for human experimental studies and research on patients.

Profile

This RTG 2660 Neural mechanisms of (mal)adaptive approach and avoidance behaviour focuses on the two fundamental behavioural patterns approach and avoidance. They are studied on multiple descriptive, interferential and analytical levels with emphasis on the translation of findings from basic to applied research and from animal models towards humans (Projects). It involves a multi-disciplinary team of principal investigators with psychological, psychiatric and neurobiological backgrounds and research foci.

The RTG includes a state-of-the-art qualification programme enabling PhD students to translate basic molecular, cellular and circuit mechanisms to human conditions and clinical applications. This comprehensive qualification will provide an excellent basis for a future career in innovative and competitive academic institutions or non-academic fields.
