Catharina Hamann is a postdoctoral researcher in the project B3 within the group of Prof. Lesch.

She is interested in researching animal models of fear and (social) anxiety disorders. Currently, she is supervising PhD student Nikita Gorbunov. They use optogenetic methods to modulate impulsive behaviour in an animal model with low levels of serotonin that shows ADHD-like symptoms.

Previously she did her PhD thesis at the University of Würzburg in the research group of Prof. Angelika Schmitt-Böhrer. In her thesis project, she researched vasopressin and oxytocin brain systems in mice and investigated possible connections to the serotonergic system in the context of fear and anxiety disorders.
