With the fast pace of changes in the global job markets leading towards unmatched uncertainty, policies regulating the education for adults are a core concern. Despite being designed for similar target groups (adults), these policies differ immensely across the globe owing to contextual variations. Different countries and international organisations approach the challenge of educating adults in different ways. They formulate, implement and measure education for adults differently too. While some countries focus on adult education, others prefer adult learning, lifelong learning or even a mix of all. Some countries even like to have policies with limited regulations and the market and/or social partners play a major role in providing tailor-made solutions for the education of the adult population. Comparing and analysing these policies helps us to develop an understanding regarding the suitability of the existing policy solutions in our own contexts and explore alternative solutions.
In this interactive course, we will compare the policies of a) four international organisations: OECD, World Bank Group, International Labour Organisation (ILO) and the UNESCO and b) different countries (selected by the participants) to understand the variations in policy solutions for education of adults in different contexts, compare them and explore their suitability in different contexts.
Das Seminar findet wöchentlich statt.
