IRTG 2991 – Workshop on “Fluorescent DNA/RNA & Proteins” with Guest Visit of Prof. Yitzhak Tor

On 09^th and 10^th of December 2024 Prof. Yitzhak Tor from the University of California, San Diego, USA visited the University of Würzburg. In addition to his inspiring lecture on "Isomorphic fluorescent nucleosides" he also participated in the first workshop of the International Research Training Group 2991 on “Fluorescent DNA/RNA & Proteins”. In the workshop Julian Fichtner (AK Würthner), Dominic Helmerich (AK Sauer) and Luisa Reiser, Maria Greve and Julia Dietzsch (AK Höbartner) contributed with talks on Fluorescent DNA, DNA PAINT microscopy and Fluorescent RNA aptamers & proteins. In addition to a stimulating scientific exchange the workshop also provided a nice opportunity for the Würzburg members of the recently started IRTG 2991 program to mingle and get to know each other over an Indian lunch. In the future also the IRTG 2991 members from the Indian partner institution IISER Thiruvananthapuram will join remotely for these workshops to promote the scientific exchange and cooperation between the students and PIs of both institutions on the joint project of Photoluminescence in Supramolecular Matrices.
