Jour Fixe: Research Funding for Early Career Researchers on Their Way to Independence

30.04.2019

Workshop for Junior Postdocs on 30 April

Our monthly Jour Fixe workshops provide you with information on current research funding programmes and offer you the opportunity to discuss your project ideas and plans for funding applications in an informal setting. The workshops are open to all JMU researchers and are free of charge.

The next workshop on 30 April 2019 will focus on funding opportunities and strategies for early career researchers.

We are delighted that Professor Anne Böckler-Raettig of the JMU’s department of psychology has agreed to join us to share her experience as a grant holder of the DFG’s Emmy Noether Early Career Researchers Programme.

The first few years after your PhD are critical for the transition to independence as a researcher. Research independence is also crucial when it comes to applying for funding – and being awarded a grant or fellowship, in turn, is a sign of independence. We will discuss the meaning of research independence and will relate this to the eligibility criteria of several funding programmes for early career researchers:

  • Funding for the initiation of international projects (Bavarian Research Alliance/ DAAD)
  • Funding for longer research stays abroad (Marie-Sklodowska-Curie Fellowships/ Alexander-von-Humboldt-Fellowship/ DAAD Postdoctoral Researchers International Mobility Experience)
  • Funding for early career researchers with an international scientific track record (ERC Grants/ DFG Emmy Noether Programme)

When: 30 April 2019, 12:00 – 13:00

Where: SFT Lounge, Josef-Martin-Weg 54/2, 97074 Würzburg (Hubland North)

Please register by 24 April 2019 via email to angela.esgen@uni-wuerzburg.de.
