Project C2 (completed)
Stabilization of N-MYC and MYC by Aurora-A
Martin Eilers, Christoph Sotriffer
The association of N-Myc and Myc with the Aurora-A kinase antagonizes degradation of Myc. As elevated levels of Myc drive various forms of cancer, targeting and destabilizing the Aurora-A–Myc complex is a therapeutic strategy for treating these tumors. Based on the structure of the Aurora-A–Myc complex, the aim of this project is to develop small molecules that selectively bind to this complex, to analyse their mode of action and to investigate their therapeutic impact.
